He always said, “I love you with all my heart.”
But life has a way of changing your heart. Pain, loss and misunderstanding mar the appearance, but none the less we keep trying to give it away.

While he held me in his entire heart, I know one of his wounds was loneliness. However, loneliness was needed for life to teach him about love. The various kinds and depths of love.

In its simplest form life is love and love is life. Perhaps that’s why his life is over, he became love, understanding what it means to receive it.

During his final weeks he learned the lessons of a lifetime. He learned about the lifeline that is love.

In those final weeks, his heart was repaired. The holes patched, marks painted and shined.

In his final weeks, while his body deteriorated, his heart grew, stronger. More complete than ever before.

It is because of those final weeks I can say that I know, as he looks upon us always, he is loving me with all of a complete heart. A whole heart. With all of his heart.

I now take comfort in thinking that the part of my heart he took when he left, is being cared for within his, now perfected, heart, and given right back to me in his love for me.
